In a previous article, we have laid out the current challenges in access control to wind turbines. In fact, turbines represent an easy target for unauthorized intruders. Moreover, it can take a long time until an operator notices, that a break-in has happened. The long detection time leads to high damages to the turbines on the one hand, and to significant liability risks for the operator on the other.
Detection time can be reduced to a matter of seconds by using a smart access control system. This enables the operator to react immediately to unauthorized intruders.
