Do you already use “Best Practice standards” during loading and unloading of tankers?

Loading and unloading of oil and chemical tankers with petroleum products and inflammable liquids can create a hazardous environment. Due to the potential difference between tanker and pier (among others, by galvanic processes), sparking can occur at the connecting points of loading hoses, loading arms or other conductive equipment. To reduce this risk of energy stored in inductances, an effective equipotential bonding should be considered as additional safety measure.

SEK-3 establishes a ship to shore bonding for secured potential equalization with highest safety level in accordance to international, industrial standards like ISGOTT / ISGINTT.

BENEFITS

  • Effective low-ohmic bonding line, especially for maritime application
  • Opening of the housing during operation in hazardous areas is allowed
  • 2 clearly visibly LEDs at the device front
  • Easy check of a proper grounding connection due to status LEDs at the grounding clamp
  • Usage under extreme environmental conditions (sturdy stainless steel housing with IP 65) and wide temperature range (-40 °C to +60 °C)
  • Over 30 years of experience with Marine Grounding Systems

  • Effective potential equalization between ship and shore prevents possible formation of sparks and hot spots
  • Highest safety by interruption of the battery effect (galvanic cell) between ship and shore
  • Automatic shut off of product flow, when grounding is interrupted
  • Explosion protection for worldwide use according to IECEx and the European ATEX directive 2014/34/EU (zone 1)
  • As absolutely essential safety component even when insulating flanges are used
  • Bridging the gap between local requirements and Industrial Standards
  • In accordance with ISGOTT / ISGINTT
  • Various control outputs, e.g. for connection to an additional status indicator to display an unsafe status
  • Marine Grounding Clamp with 2 integrated status LEDs
  • Effective failure diagnosis by integrated system information display (incl. 10 status-LEDs)
  • Object recognition of the ship
  • The electrical conductive bonding line connection between ship and shore is released, after a proper mechanical and electrical contracting is monitored
  • Detection of incorrectly connected clamp or pull off and immediately switching into safe status
